Classic Keanu

This film was awesome, filled with action, bad acting and a whole lotta crime. I believe that I watched this film for the first time back in 1991 when it was first released with my older brother. If I remember right, we were both on the edge of our seat. During the beach fight, or the big chase, we were hooked with excitement. These are the types of movie that I enjoy.
Two thumbs up to director Katherine Bigleow for putting this great film into my large DVD collection at home. Now that I own this film, I can continue to feel like a kid while watching it over and over. I personally own this movie, and never thought to check out who was behind it. I would have never thought that it would have been a female director. This amazed me as I felt that only female directors worked on chick flicks or musicals. Not action packed excitement like Point Break.
I guess it goes to show that you never know till you know. It is good to see that female directors branched out away from chick flicks, and made an amazing film such as Point Break. As far as the action goes in this film, there was also some pretty corny jokes, which always gets a laugh out of someone. Anyways, long story short, this was a great movie that generations will enjoy for centuries to come.

I was pretty surprised to find out that a woman directed this film, but never thought they originally created chick-flicks and musicals. It was a dumb movie (in the good sense). You don't have to think a lot, and sometimes that's the kind of movie you want to watch. I'd usually change the channel if I came across a film like this, about a band of surfers who rob banks, but I'm not ashamed to say I liked this one. It was fun.

I was also surprised that a woman directed this movie (probably because before this class I had several uninformed preconceived notions, especially that women usually only directed romantic comedies). However, regardless of Katherine Biglow’s sex, I can really appreciate this movie more than I ever did. The one point of view that I think is missing in all of the class’ discussions and readings is that I don’t necessarily think that the skydiving without a parachute was ridiculous. Given the special fictional world of the film (where a surfing cop named Johnny Utah is the protagonist) I thought the jumping out of the plane as a chase was brilliant. It fit perfectly within the character and premise of the film. Ridiculous, yes, but not when considered within the context of the film.

I agree that it's kind of shocking that a woman can make this type of action movie. I would have never thought it if I didn't know before hand.

And yeah, Keanu's acting was not all that great and that kind of broke me out of the movie.
